Abstract

Conventional tube cathode OED support assembly is made up of steel (gray part) and lead (red part), and the lead part completely surrounds the steel part so as to be in contact with the lead part of the cathode support after being assembled. This article proposes a new tube cathode OED support assembly, which is made up of plastic (gray part) and lead (red part). The plastic part is much lighter than the conventional steel part, and the plastic material allows a specially shaped to decrease the size of the lead part, which further reduces the weight and cost. Further, whilst the oil hole axis is inclined w.r.t. the tube centre line in the conventional structure; the oil hole axis can be perpendicular tube centre line which reduces the risk of x-ray leakage. This proposed assembly can be used in X-ray tube for the x-ray radiation shielding and tube housing sealing

The Tube cathode OED (Oil Expansion diaphragm) support assembly is designed for tube cathode end, the function is to prevent x-ray leakage and support the Oil Expansion diaphragm.

It was combined by one plastic part (BASF4406 GF30) and another lead plate part.
