Abstract

The invention provides pumping apparatus comprising an electric motor coupled to one or two fluid pumps and a controller mounted on the motor. Each pump outlet contains a non-return valve, a pressure sensor and a flow switch. When the pump is in operation the controller adjusts the speed of the motor, up to a predetermined maximum speed, in response to the pressure measured by the sensor. The control acts to maintain the pressure at the pump outlet at a predetermined value.

Improvements in pumping apparatus

The invention relates to pumping apparatus, in particular for boosting water to outlets within a domestic gravity fed water system.

Existing pumping apparatus for boosting water to outlets within domestic gravity fed water systems use fixed speed motors controlled by either flow switches or flow switches and pressure switches in the pump outlet. This has the disadvantage that if the pump is connected to more than one outlet, there will be a difference in the pressure at each outlet depending on how many outlets are open and the restriction to flow created by each outlet.

The invention provides pumping apparatus comprising an electric motor coupled to one or two fluid pumps and a controller mounted on the motor. Each pump outlet contains a non-return valve, a pressure sensor and a flow switch.
