Abstract

In everyday life, people are very much using a variety of instant messaging/chat Apps in the mobile phone and client software in personal computer. Each chat software supports a chat function that to set the personal background image/photo for the different chat windows to different users/groups, users can add/set a special picture/photo/image for the special person or group as the background for your chat session. However, during a text chatting in the chat window, the background image will be casually blocked/overlay by chat text in the chat window. It becomes annoying if the important part of the background photo/image is overlay by chat text. For example, if user sets a photo of himself/herself(selfie), or family photo, the user would like to prevent human faces from being covered by chat text. Thus it will be very pleasant and friendly if can protect part area of the image as the area protected, so that it is not blocked by chat text, and the background image can be shown better during a chat. This disclosure provides a method to protect part area of background image from overlaying by chat text. When set a the background photo/image, user selects a protected area; when text chatting, the Apps/Client application will show the text in different ways to prevent the protected area from overlaying/being covered by chat text.

This disclosure is to improve the chat background image/photo of the chat software for using, so that during a chat, on the chat background image/photo can better display, more pleasant. When the user set the chat background images/photos, allowing users to select the part of background image/photo as a protected area. With that setting, chat text can be automatically avoid protected areas, protected areas such pictures is not blocked by chat text.

How to set:
1. Specify the protected area when to add the background image, the user first selects the picture, after selecting pictures, the user can select the area they want to protect by dragging virtual box. The definition for the virtual box:

Graphics can be closed fixed shape, such as square box, round box;

The user can also select any closed drawing shape, drawing closed lines in client application, or drawing by finger in the mobile Apps.

Imaginary frame area no larger than a specified percentage of the whole background image /photo

2. How to display the chat text when encountered the protected areas.

Chat text box mantains the original shape, but the background color and text color transparency.

Chat Box avoid the protected areas, this reality is divided into two methods: the text surrounded the protected area and the text is always a measure of the protection zone.

For the type of dialogue can not change shape, such as pictures, video, etc., need to avoid all of the horizontal area of the protected area extends. Or choose not to support this type of protected area avoidance function in background image /photo setting.

During text input, selectable avoid the protected area is temporarily disabled.


3. Settings a button in Chat Window to enable/disable this key function to show/hide protected areas. OR, single click in Chat Windows to enable/disable

Technically, this disclosure is easy to implement. The existing Instant Message/Chat Apps/Software already supports to set background image for chat

window, and the text shows in the chat window to overlay the background image during the chat session.
