ABSTRACT

Self adopting system which calculate reference points required for compression of location reports

Self adoption system considers the following factories:

·         Available bandwidth

·         Size of monitored area

·         Monitored mobile devices

·         Positions

·         Requested  accuracy for monitored area

·         User assigned priority for incident

This compression method leverages usage of data broadcast and group data transmission.

PROBLEM

The solution addresses the need to notify mobile devices at the incident scene about team member geographical locations in the effective manner.

Proposed location data compression allows effectively utilizing wireless bandwidth and delivering data to many devices.

It is especially effective when all devices in the defined area want to receive the same set of data.

In case of emergency situation (like terrorist attack) many police and fire units may operate on the same area close to the incident. Usually radio infrastructure may not be capable to handle so many transmissions or the access to transmission media may be limited.

SOLUTION & OPERATION

Each device in the radio system is connected to the AVL server sending its position and receiving other units’ geographical locations.
