Abstract

In current designs, a lever locking latch that is included into a cover is designed as shown. The mold needs sliders in order to create a protection wall under the locking latch. This protection wall avoids overstress of the latch. The latch also needs to be side protected by side protection walls. The handling area for unlocking with a finger is therefore small, has a bad feel and is user unfriendly. A solution to this problem is a design as shown. The lever locking latch is simply molded without sliders. The overstress is directly managed by the geometric design and a protection wall is not necessary. Also, the side protections can be removed. With this design, the lever locking latch has a large handling area without sliders which allow easy handling. The lever locking latch has the shape of a semi-circle. However, other shapes such as rectangles, triangles or semi-ellipses should also work. The design increases also the free area for wire path inside the cover.

Connector Cover with easy handling lever locking system

In current designs, a lever locking latch that is included into a cover is designed as shown below:

The mold needs sliders in order to create a protection wall under the locking latch. This protection wall avoids overstress of the latch. The latch also needs to be side protected by side protection walls. The handling area for unlocking with a finger is therefore small, has a bad feel and is user unfriendly.

A solution to this problem is a design as shown below. The lever locking latch is simply molded without sliders.

The overstress is directly managed by the geometric design and a protection wall is not necessary. Also, the side protections can be removed.

With this design, shown above and below, the lever locking latch has a large handling area without sliders which allow easy handling. The lever locking latch has the shape of a semi-circle. However, other shapes such as rectangles, triangles or semi-ellipses should also work. The design increases also the free area for wire path inside the cover.
