Tris Biphenyl Triazine (TBPT) is the non soluble active sunscreen ingredient of the market product sold under the name Tinosorb A2B and Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol (MBBT) the non soluble active sunscreen ingredient of market product Tinosorb M. TBPT and MBBT have to be micronized in order to provide the properties required to be used as sunscreen active ingredients in sunscreens. The micronization process takes place in an aqueous environment in the presence of suitable process aids. The surface-active compound used in Tinosorb A2B and Tinosorb M to stabilize the UV absorber to avoid the occurrence of agglomeration is decyl glucoside. However, other surface-active compounds can be used for this purpose, such as polyglyceryl-10 laurate. The present document gives exemples of cosmetic sunscreen formulations including the water dispersion of the UV particulate filters TBPT as well as MBBT stabilized with polyglyceryl-10 laurate.
