Varying Display Resolution Variation Based on Peripheral Distance

The default screen resolution of devices does not provide the best visibility when the user expects to see screen content when they are using remote wireless peripherals (scanner/imager, printer, etc.). Auto resolution of a device screen setting would provide a better user experience.

For example, this can be implemented with a vehicle mounted computer with Bluetooth capabilities. When the user is away from the device's screen, they expect better visibility, a bigger font size, or higher brightness of data being scanned. If the user comes near the device, default screen settings can be auto- stored to save power.

Auto screen resolution can be achieved via built-in sensor within the device, via signal strength of the Bluetooth unit (BT Low Energy capable hardware), or WiFi ad-hoc network signal strength. When the user is very near to the device's proximity sensor, the proximity sensor can help to detect the user through the use of peripherals. When the user moves away from the valid range of the proximity sensors, the device can start using BLE capability of the scanner. Similar features can also be achieved my mirroring WiFi signal RSSI if peripheral scanner is WiFi enabled. This concept can be further enhanced to user both WLAN/BT connections. When the user is sensed to be further away from the screen, the resolution is changed to make viewing the screen easier for the user.
