Dynamic Pedestrian Alert

One of the challenges to a pedestrian (e.g., walker, runner, cyclist, etc.) is not being able to see the cars/vehicles that are approaching from behind. In addition, a pedestrian that has headphones on or earbuds in cannot hear the vehicle(s) approaching.

One example of this problem is a car approaching a pedestrian from behind, over the yellow line, and/or over the speed limit. Another example is a car preparing to turn right (turn signal is on) from behind the pedestrian at an intersection, which the pedestrian is preparing to cross.

The novel contribution is a system that detects approaching vehicles and warns pedestrians of potential dangers posed by surrounding cars. Warnings include, but are not limited to:

 Projecting the path of vehicles against the path of pedestrian and alerting the pedestrian to a possible hazard

 Identifying that a vehicle is not following driving laws (e.g., driving over the line, speeding, talking/texting, etc.) and alerting the pedestrian to a possible hazard

Implementation

Prerequisite: System is given a threshold to alert a person/car (e.g., four meters from projected accident), and the pedestrian has an enabled device to detect and alert for vehicles.

1. System determines the current location of the user's personal device 2. System determines the projected location of devices (not claiming novelty) based on one or more various factors (not limited to the following):

A. Personal device i. speed ii. direction iii. obst...
