Abstract

A multifunctional alarm light for a patient monitor is proposed. Design of the alarm light enables the multifunctional alarm light to serve as a traditional alarm light and as a flashlight for patient transport or a pupil pen. The multifunctional alarm light comprises a separate enclosure which may be attached or detached from the patient monitor with one connector line. The connector line is configured to prevent complete detachment of the alarm light from the patient monitor. According to one embodiment, groups of flashlight are added into alarm lens to function as lamp. The alarm lens is detached from the patient monitor for performing flashlight and pupil pen function by lighting the flashlight without interference from visual alarm function.

MULTIFUNCTIONAL ALARM LIGHT FOR A PATIENT MONITOR

BACKGROUND

The present disclosure relates generally to patient monitors and more particularly to a multifunctional alarm light for a patient monitor.

Generally, patient monitors have an alarm light. Conventional alarm lights on the patient monitor have a single function. The alarm light generates visual alarm when value of patient parameter being measured exceeds a preset, generally normal value.

However, there are various situations in which a patient or paramedic using the patient monitor requires a convenient light source, while taking the measurement. A flashlight may be attached to the patient monitor, but such attachment adds complexity to design and cost of the patient monitor.

It would be desirable to have a multifunctional alarm light on the patient monitor.
