Recommendation Based on Lifestyle Portrait

E-commerce is a huge and increasingly growth market in China and Worldwide, including both C2C and B2C. Nowadays, more and morepeople shop online. How to always attract customers shopping at its e-commerce sites is a great challenge. Traditional recommendation methods are effective in similar products or similar people with similar buying behavior. However, cross-domain product recommendation is still a problem.

A method for recommendation based on lifestyle portrait by associating products in different domains and also associating different users based on lifestyle portrait. The main components include: lifestyle portrait and cross-domain product association.

Lifestyle portrait uses social media data, product features, product reviews and transaction data to map user into the predefined high level lifestyle dimensions (like frugal, fashion, luxury, cost-effective, high-quality, comfort).

In cross-domain product association model, lifestyle portrait is used on product properties, reviews, mentioned by social media, and then each product is mapped into several high level lifestyle dimensions. Lifestyle dimensions ofproduct are also transferred by the user bought it. Different products can be associated using lifestyle dimensions.
