Abstract

An adjustable seismic bracket system for seismic anchoring is proposed. The seismic bracket system is used for anchoring equipment in seismic area per regulations. The bracket system comprises a couple of brackets with a plurality of hole-patterns on angled and different center distances. The hole-patterns allow shifting one bracket horizontally relative to the other. The shift also allows a change in vertical displacement or height often required to allow for installation height variation during equipment mounting.

ADJUSTABLE BRACKET SYSTEM FOR SEISMIC ANCHORING

BACKGROUND

 

The present disclosure relates generally seismic anchoring and more particularly to adjustable seismic bracket system for seismic anchoring.

Many seismic installation firms and inspectors will not allow an elongated slot or oversized hole greater than 1/16" (1.5mm) over the nominal fastener or anchor diameter. This limit ensures a robust bolted joint connection which does not allow excessive movement of equipment during a seismic event.

One conventional seismic anchoring system secures cylindrical shaped objects to a wall, but does not offer vertical or horizontal anchoring compliance. Another conventional seismic anchoring system uses a pattern of mounting holes used in vertical height adjustment of a plow blade.  Though such conventional system does not have slotted holes, the pattern of mounting holes allows a very course vertical adjustment.

It would be desirable to have an improved seismic anchoring system that allows finer vertical and horizontal adjustment without using grossly oversized holes or elongated slots.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

An adjustable seismic bracket system for seismic anchoring is proposed. As depicted in Figure 1, the seismic bracket system is used for anchoring equipment in seismic area per regulations. The bracket system comprises a couple of brackets with a plurality of hole-patterns on angled and different center distances. The hole-patterns allow shifting one bracket horizontally relative to the other. The shift also allows a change in vertical displacement or height often required to allow for installation height variation during equipment mounting.
