Method to Detect Patterns of Behavior in Video Games

Video games have a high influence on people, especially young people, worldwide.

A mechanism is needed to interpret the behavior patterns presented on the players , in order to identify and predict negative behavior and take preventive and corrective actions.

The novel contribution is a method to detect a player's patterns of behavior while engaged in video games. A monitoring and analysis system in video game detects vital patterns in a user's behaviors based on the video category.

The system automatically identifies the game category or an administrator can manually define the category. The idea is to use several techniques to read and analyze the gamer's reactions while playing the game. This can include analysis of facial expressions, gestures, use of the controller, sounds emitted by the users, etc.

Depending on the game, the analysis can take different schemas. For a video game

with much violence, the users could have specific violence patterns that increase over time. This will trigger an indicator. The method can be implemented in any video game system (e.g., consoles, computers, tablets, smart phones, etc.) controlled by an administrator that monitors the analysis and results for the gamers .
