A solution is described for a conferencing system, to address the problem of echo when the presenter at a conference is in a room with an audience, and the loudspeaker of the conferencing system, located in the same room, is also connected to the conference.

The presenter at the conference gets a “priority” level over other participants connected to the conferencing system. When the presenter is talking, only the flow with “priority” level is taken into account to generate outgoing flow without trying to mix and manage jitter. This allows to avoid latency for the presenter’s voice flow. When other participants, other than the presenter, are talking, normal conferencing system behavior is applied. This reduces and optimizes the latency between the presenter’s voice and the amplified voice on the loudspeaker for the comfort of people sitting in the same room as the presenter.

A conference management system is connected to a conference server. A system is used to set the “priority” level to a participant defined as “presenter”. The conferencing system can thus give higher priority to a type of participant tagged with “priority”. The associated legs are not affected with latency process in MCU.

When the presenter is not talking, MCU processes to a normal leg management.
