Disabling/Enabling Mobile Features in Restricted Zones

Field of Innovation:

The innovation relates to disabling and enabling features of the phone.

Motivation:

There are many instances where people are required to leave their mobile phones at the entrance of restricted areas OR are requested to turn phones off. Few examples for restricted zones are Safe Harbor Zones in Corporate Companies, Museums, Army/Navy zones etc.

In some cases though the phones are allowed, they are required to be turned to silent mode in areas like Conference Rooms, Hospitals, Class Rooms, Theatres etc. Even in Airplanes they are required to be in Flight Mode until it takes off.

Problems:

People are required to deposit their mobile phones at the entrance of restricted areas. Almost always the reason is that the phones have cameras. But this deprives the users from accessing their phone and thus keeping them away from any communication even when someone is trying to contact for an emergency.

In areas like Conference Rooms, Hospitals, Class Rooms and Theatres, phones are required to be turned to silent mode to avoid disturbance to people around. It is impossible to assure all phones within the respective boundaries are turned to silent mode.

Solution:

The method and system for disabling features of phone comprises of the following units (see Fig.01):

 A device to identify the phone - Phone Tracker

 A management device to access the features of the phone

 A database that keeps track of the phone info/features
