System to locate product or services of interest within a video or multiple media set and enable extraction of additional information to assist with purchase of the product .

While browsing the internet or watching television there are several instances where a certain product catches our eye with an intent to buy or know more about the product . This could be something which we had shown interest in at a different time and place.

Let's go through some of such instances:

Consider a consumer who is watching a popular award show on television or any social media (example, YouTube). She would like to tag (mark or list) all the cocktail dresses/gown which the celebrities are wearing. She would then want to run a search to shop for similar dresses. She would optionally want to see the full list of compiled cocktail dresses at leisure, and then select a few styles to shop.

She might also like to see the cocktail dresses/gown which the celebrities are wearing, with specific styles, example a color (shades in red), fabric (velvet), style (trumpet shaped), dropped waist.

Consider another scenario, where someone is planning a party and while watching an award function, or while watching video of a friend's party shared on social media, she liked the stage decoration. She would want to find out the event management companies that can offer same or similar decoration, and their quotes.

Looking at one more scenario of a book buff who would like to tag a list of all books which were shown as being read in popular movies or television shows. The book buff would then be made available links to eCommerce sites for purchase. This scenario is not just limited to the videos which the book-buff is watching or has watched, but a much broader dataset.

These scenarios can be extended to social sites like photos, videos, etc or multiple devices where content is displayed for eg: Television.

This article suggests a few ways to make this more interactive.

1) A system or application to recognize objects of interest with an intent of purchasing within a video or multiple videos based on one's personal preferences, as well as his online and social interactions.

2) A system to record and apply the user's personal preferences as well as past social interactions, on a media that the user is currently watching.

3) A system or application to filter products based on advanced attributes or characteristics such as color, manufacturer, style, fabric, material as preferred by the consumer, when preparing the list of recommended objects of interest.

4) A system to be able to search and locate the eCommerce sites, and other channels for the chosen or recommended products.
