Method and System for Providing a Panic Button to Trigger an Emergency Routing for a Self Driving Car

Disclosed is a method and system for providing a panic button to trigger an emergency routing for a self driving car. The method and system provides the panic button that routes the self driving car to an emergency location to help an operator in need. The emergency location could be a location of a moving vehicle, such as an ambulance or a police car. Accordingly, the method and system routes the self driving car so as to meet the moving vehicle. Once the panic button is engaged, the method and system notifies proper authorities about an emergency event by transmitting information such as, but need not be limited to, medical conditions of the operator, a GPS location of the self driving car, a make and model of the self driving car, a license plate of the self driving car, road conditions and traffic conditions. Also, the method and system determines a shortest route to the emergency location and drives the self driving car to the emergency location.

The method and system provides a panic button to trigger an emergency routing for a self driving car. The panic button includes, but need not be limited to a button physically contained within the self driving car in a dashboard or a trunk, a button on a key FOB and a logical button with a voice activated command. The panic button is used to transfer physical control to a computer system of the self driving car.

Once the panic button is engaged, the method and system gathers information about an emergency event and validates the emergency event. The information about an emergency event is gathered using devices such as, but need not be limited to, cameras within the self driving car, a finger print scanner, biometric sensors, a mobile phone and wearable devices.

Also the method and system gathers data about the self driving car that are provided by the operator in advance. The data includes, but need not be limited to, a GPS location of the self driving car, a make and model of the self driving car, a license plate of the self driving car.

Then, the method and system notifies proper authorities about the emergency event by transmitting the information about the emergency event and the data about the self driving car using a voice call or a text message. The voice call or the text message is sent to the proper authorities using abilities of the self driving car. In an embodiment, the method and system notifies the emergency event by observing a turned on panic mode of the self driving car. The turned on panic mode is observed based on flashing lights and honking horns.
