Method and System for Enabling Intelligent Home Security System in the Absence of User

Concerns regarding the safety of a house exist while away on a vacation, in spite of solutions already existing. The existing solutions include remote monitoring of a user's home via mobile devices. However, the shortcomings associated with the existing solutions include lack of access due to weak phone signal, and battery of mobile devices. Also, efforts of preventing unsafe actions can be carried out manually by holding the mail from the post office, creating an illusion of presence of individuals in the home. However, there exists a need for safety solutions to mitigate any safety concerns.

Disclosed is a method and system for dynamically triggering an intelligent home safety protection system upon detecting that a user is on vacation and consequent absence of users for a while.

The system uses embedded sensors in artifacts on the user's properties (for example: mailbox, door handles, vehicles, etc.) to detect user interaction with the properties. Further, the system employs a social activity stream monitoring system to detect that the user is travelling and there maybe consequent absence of the user for a while. A processor communicates between the embedded sensors and a home vacation lighting control system. The system also uses an electronic program that communicates with mail / package delivery vendors as well as the home security alarm system.

The other data sources employed by the system include, but is not limited to, unmoved vehicles parked on the user's home premises, social/ online activity stream of user and other individuals, activity of doors opening and closing, activity of lighting system and other appliances in the house.
