Method and System for Assigning Gesture Catalog to Mobile Device near Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Beacon for Triggering Promotion/Alert

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Beacons/iBeacons are amongst the most popular means of providing enhanced experiences for users at venues such as, but not limited to stadiums, airports, retail stores, and hospitals. Beacon devices are used for a wide range of cases ranging from sales promotion activity to providing building security. A beacon transmits a wireless Bluetooth signal to BLE-enabled devices (such as smart phones) to notify an application on a device which is within a proximity of the beacon device. As, the beacons are "dummy devices" which cannot connect to a network, and monitor and transmit a notification to the device upon a completed gesture action, a user has to rely on the device to identify an action and trigger a signal to reveal a relevant advertisement/alert.

Disclosed is the method and system for assigning gesture catalog to a mobile device near BLE Beacon for triggering promotion/alert. The system assigns gestures to the beacon and recognizes the gestures within a pre-defined proximity of the beacon to display/show a relevant promotion/coupon.

In accordance with the system, a plurality of beacons are installed at a venue to create an ad-hoc network of the plurality of beacons. The beacons are installed so as to provide a wide coverage of the venue.
