Disclosed is a method and system that can assist a health professional in determining a person's propensity for a genetic-related illness by performing an analysis of the person's name.

The method and system analyzes a name of a user to identify genetic characteristics of the name. The method and system, then, determines whether the name is associated

with certain historical events or any particular geographical region to suggest a genetic

origin of the name. The genetic origin of the name is used to determine a possible set of genetic-related illnesses.

The following Figure illustrates an exemplary flow of the disclosed method and system.

As illustrated in the Figure, the method and system collects the name of the user and stores this information in a confidential and secure data repository. The name includes a current legal name or an official name, a maiden name, a nick name and other possible alternative names. The method and system also collects names of blood relatives of the user which is also stored in the aforementioned repository.

After collecting the name, the method and system determines possible homophone

words for strings in the name of the user. The method and system, then determines

whether the strings derived from the homophone words yields any other meaning in a

language.
