Swellable Polymers Lost Circulation Material

The purpose is to use the Swellable Polymer of the Swellable Reactive Element packer as lost circulation material to be pumped in any losses zone, particularly the surface severe losses zone.

As we keep pumping hundreds of barrels of cement without curing the losses, the idea is to pump the Swellable Polymer as lost circulation material and keep hole in static for hours or days depending on the delay time required and then to drill or mill any edges to expand inside the hole to have a gauge hole again which will help to run surface casing and cement to the top as required. Another idea, as now we have a corroded 9-5/8 casing, the corrosion is due to losses behind the casing which prevent the cement to reach the top of the casing so it becomes corroded from the back side and even more if a SCAB liner or Tie back to the surface is required. The cement job will fail as the cement will leak through the corroded holes behind the casing and will be loss in the lost zone. However, if we have the mentioned polymer we can pump in the corroded hole to isolate any holes/ports that created leakage to allow us to run a cemented SCAB liner. The idea simply is to use the polymer as any lost circulation material then wait the required or designed delayed time until it swell to heal/seal any losses zone and it doesn't require any high differential pressure as it will be a temporary barrier until the cement is pumped.
