NEW WHEEL HUB CAP ATTACHMENT SYSTEM WITH LUG NUT ACCESS

Fleets (Service vehicles) don´t like to remove the wheel cover nor do they want the wheel to look unfinished to do daily checks for lug nuts per their safety requirements (lug nut torque tune up). The current attachment system doesn´t allow us to use lug nut access system so, it is not feasible due to interference and design restrictions.

Therefore a new wheel hub cap has been developed with lug nut access to enable the customer can do visually lug nuts checks every day and set the safety torque required without removing any wheel trim.

Unlike current similar products with attachment retention system based on steel snap's (Tulip type), the wheel hub cap uses snap's plastic material that represent a lot advantages such as avoid corrosion warranty claims, reduction of production operations and weight.

Since the snap plastic fit retention is held to the lug nut profile, it doesn't matter the number of the torque adjustments because the wheel hub cap will be always in assembly design position. This attachment system can apply to all service vehicles that require a continue maintenance of wheel lug nut torque.

This wheel hub cap design (styling and retention system) was developed base on a wheel ornament robustness design metrology. Specific steps were followed to ensure a high quality product like Styling surface concept definition, CA...
