Abstract

ROPS (Rollover Protection Structure) is a system which protects off-road vehicle operators from injuries caused when vehicle topples or rolls over. The proposed system improves the strength of vehicle using Hard Point structure. The hard point structure is provided under hood at front side of the vehicle. It helps in providing necessary safety strength to the vehicle. The hard structure has two unique parts. 1. Side plates - shape of side plates is unique. These plates are oriented at an angle to take the load oriented in direction of force. If plates are not placed at this angle this will not be able to withstand the required load. The hard point structure can be integrated structure or discrete structure. 2. Connecting rod - the position and function of this rod is very unique. This rod helps to unite both the side plates and take more loads when vehicles faces roll over condition. In absence of this rod, the side plates have high chances to get deflected under roll over.

There is requirement of front hard point or structure which can take the specific load during crushing of off-road vehicle.
