     This refers to a data acquisition and communications sub that is modular and which can be used with a variety of packer device setting tools. This sub will record and, if required, transmit data to surface before, during, and/or after packer setting. This data is processed to provide service and operator personnel with actionable information on how the packer device set.

     This sub is modular in that it could be used with 3rd party electric line, coiled tubing, and jointed pipe conveyed setting tools. The data that it captures and transmits would be processed to provide service and operator personnel with actionable information on how the packer device set. The information includes, but is not limited to, parameters such as length of time to set, stroke required to set, and the setting force profile as a function of time. This sub could also be configured to capture and report additional data that can be processed into information related to azimuth, inclination, rotational orientation, temperature, and hydrostatic pressure at setting depth. The sub could also be configured to capture and transmit other types of data which would possibly be of interest such as packer position relative to a collar and casing ID surface condition at setting depth.
