Abstract

This paper describes an application of anti-static and discharge sheet. The sheet consists of an adhesive layer, metal tape layer and an insulated film layer, and includes air space between the described comb-shaped portions of metal tape. This sheet has a function for discharging a static electricity from an insulated surface for long term even if soil is formed during outdoor usage.

This paper describes an application of anti-static and discharge sheet. The sheet consists of an adhesive layer, metal tape layer and an insulated film layer. Furthermore, the sheet includes air space between the described each comb shape portions of metal tape (Figure 1). This sheet has a function for discharging a static electricity from an insulated surface for long term even if soil is formed during outside usage.

The system comprises:
1) Metal sheet (Example: Cu, Aluminum, Aluminum Alloy, etc)

Metal sheet is designed like a comb outline. And each branch portion may include sharp edges like Figure 1.


2) Adhesive layer
3) Insulated plastic sheet/film (Example: PP, PE, PET, PS, etc)

Air spaces are existed between each branch like Figure 1. Discharge characteristic may be controlled by sharp edges profile, number of sharp edges, sheet sickness and so on. Pressure in air space may be set to less than 1 atmosphere for improving discharge ability.

Background:

This structure (Figure 2) functions for discharging electrostatic from insulated surface. But the structure has a weak point that relates to durability of during life for outside usage. In case of the structure, discharging portion is located on surface of metal foil sheet, so that a discharging performance is decreased by soil formed on surface of it.
