Method and System for Automatically Providing Education Based on a User's Calendar Entry

Disclosed is a method and system for automatically searching for education based on any subject, topic, description or agenda in a calendar notice and prompting the user

with options to schedule an education in an open time slot on the user's calendar.

In accordance with an embodiment, the method and system is implemented as a plugin in an application such as, but not limited to, email. Once installed, the user provides basic configuration and sets preferences in the application via the plugin.

The user sets preferences for an education type such as, but not limited to, formal education (intercompany - classroom), and an informal education (intercompany education link - work at own pace), published papers and links to preferred publication sites, blogs and forums and links to preferred blogs and forums and other web links. Further, the method and system provides a link to the formal and informal education facility along with a User ID and Password. Further, the education can be ordered based on, but not limited to, a user's prior selection history, an education type, a date available, a length of class.

Also, the method and system allows the user to specify a limit on the number of search results and a communication language.

The plug-in to the calendar is triggered when a new meeting is scheduled and an option to search for education pertaining to the calendar entry is presented. Once the education is found, the method and system identifies available education and time slots on the calendar in order to schedule the education before the actual meeting, thus allowing the user to be prepared before the meeting. If no available time slot is found before the meeting, the user is provided the option to schedule the education after the meeting.

The Figure below is a flowchart illustrating the steps executed by the method and system in accordance with an embodiment of the invention.
