Abstract

The objective of the idea is a multi compartment tire for increased safety. Partly in terms redundancy by several cells, the chances increase to keep the tire functioning to a certain degree temporarily, partly the complete explosion risk is considerably smaller. Already now tire manufacturers experiment with building tires by 3D printing. The new class of multi material printers will make this trend even more accelerated. It is now possible to print multi materials such as rubberized reinforcements; such as typically are needed in the tire's walls and top. Metallic steel belts are increasingly possible to print, as well as pressurization pipes.
