When a group of people needs to meet , members sometimes need to organize cars and ride sharing. Determining which participants are the best matches for ride sharing/carpooling is not always easy. A method is needed to find out between the meeting participants who should carpool together in order to minimize the number of rides.

The novel contribution is a system that uses calendar meetings to simplify booking shared transport . The system helps organize transport for a group of people by looking at the participants of a meeting invitation , the associated current locations, the availability of existing transport options (e.g., ride services, etc.), and the size of available vehicles.

The application flow follows:


1. User A, a member of an upcoming meeting, wants to set up rides for some of the meeting participants


2. User A selects the meeting from an electronic calendar entry and clicks a button to organize rides


3. Before the start of the meeting, the system performs a lookup to determine the location of the individual setting up the

  carpool
4. The system determines the travel time from the User A's location to the meeting location , X

N minutes + a preference organization time (e.g., 30 minutes before) the system extracts the following data:

A. List of participants and associated current location(s)

B. Destination/location and time of the meeting
