Abstract

Air pollution is one of the most severe problems faced by many major cities in the world and the significant contribution to the air pollution in big cities is due to motor vehicles. Disclosed is a system to control air pollution caused by motor vehicle using Internet of Things (IoT) and Engine Control Unit (ECU) of motor vehicle. Motor vehicle will have separate device which will keep track of received pollution level readings and accordingly will send signals to ECU to take actions. So using this disclosed system we can restrict emission from motor vehicle.

The significant contribution to the air pollution in big cities is due to motor vehicles.

Various government institutes take actions to curb and keep pollution in control. One of such proposals to cut pollution is, to restrict the number of motor vehicles on the roads. These plans had some success but this is not a solution widely accepted and has caused lot of inconvenience. Such plans can't be implemented for long term.

This disclosure proposes the solution using internet of things to restrict the air pollution.

We propose a system to control the pollution using Internet of things and Engine Control Unit (ECU) of motor vehicle. The motor vehicle will have a separate device installed which will keep taking inputs from the pollution monitoring device situated outside . This car device will then check if the pollution levels are high and accordingly send signals to the car ECU to adjust the settings.
