Method and system for advanced photographic processing and optimization

When taking a picture, one of the problem you may be dealing with, is to exclude unwanted subjects such as moving people or vehicles. This situation can be often found in crowded touristic places, like squares, monuments or landscapes. The proposed solution is based on a software system, which is applicable to actual digital cameras or smartphones. The proposed system allows to selectively remove the unwanted subjects (people or any moving object) from a picture after it is taken by the photographer.

From now on, the proposed system will be identified as LMAV (Landscape /Monument/Architecture Vision). The photographer entering the LMAV mode will be able to take a clean picture of a subject without any unwanted moving object or person. The LMAV system is based on the principle of taking more pictures of the same subject in a short interval of time. To reduce the number of pictures and the shooting time, a functionality defined in the program automatically computes the required number of shots, and the shot time interval, on the base of the speed of the moving objects. The photographer can select the following options:

A) Shooting time limit to get the result (for example 15 seconds)

B) Percentage of required results (can be defined until 100%)

C) Shooting sequence (Automatic/Manual, default is Automatic)

The LMAV system provides all the required information on the camera (or smartphone) display. The solution consists mainly of a software application , which is applicable to cameras that allows or eliminate people from the photo or selectively eliminates only moving vehicles . This software component is identified with the acronym LMAV (Landscape/Monument/Architecture Vision). For example, the photographer can choose to photograph a monument eliminating the moving parts (mainly people) that appear in the picture, or can choose to delete from photo the car traffic.

The application makes use of a function that automatically calculates how many photos shoot , optimizing the number on the basis of the existing movements, reducing as much as possible the time required, also provides an estimation of the functionality progress with respect to the expected result .

The photographer can decide on the application the following parameters: (A) Shooting time limit to get the result (eg 15 seconds), (B) Percentage of required results, (C) Automatic sequence (default) or manual shots sequence.

The application provides on of the camera/smartphone viewer the information needed for its management and configuration. Details are provided in a later section.

Activation - First picture

Activating the application (pressing the shutter button), some points are selected in a rectangle/frame that is internal to the photo size in an area considered sufficient respect to the initial resolution (about 70- 80% of the initial surface).
