Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for moving object properties pins to manipulate and visualize configuration of objects. The method and system includes a data point at the center of an object, which acts as an origin for an arbitrary number of property lines/pins. The method and system determines an intersection of the pins at the data point located at the center of the object based on specific values associated with the data point.

A Method and System for Moving Object Properties Pins to Manipulate and Visualize Configuration of Objects

Disclosed is a method and system for moving object properties pins to manipulate and visualize configuration of objects. The method and system includes a data point at the center of an object, which acts as an origin for an arbitrary number of property lines/pins. The method and system determines an intersection of the pins at the data point located at the center of the object based on specific values associated with the data point.

The method and system shifts coordinate pins of the object to intersect with the data point and visualizes the data point based on orientation, position and shiftiness of the arbitrary pins. Here, line/pins are configured in any one of an open configuration or a closed configuration, where the open configuration of the line/pins may include, but need not be limited to a straight, a parabolic and the like. Similarly, the closed configuration of the line/pins may include, but need not be limited to an elliptical, circle and the like. Further, the coordinate values of the lines/pins can be, but not limited to, a discrete or continuous values and the values of each pin is normalized or un-normalized to each other. Thereafter, the manipulation of the data point is performed by shifting one or more pins through the origin.

In an embodiment, a figurative association of the object with pins forms a pincushion. The cushion of the object is modified by the values listed on the pins and each pin represents each feature of the cushion, which may include, but need not be limited to a color, size, shape and the like. Thus, the method of moving the color pin through the cushion modifies the color of the cushion and visualizes the modified cushion color.

In another embodiment, an object is opened or selected by a user and all the lines are automatically moved through the origin of the object. Here, each line stops when the object’s value in that dimension reaches the origin. The method and system automatically changes the display of the lines based on movement of the lines/pins. Subsequently, the method and system grays out each line with unchanged values at the object and each line with inapplicable values or ranges, where inapplicability of the lines is defined by current state of the object. Further, the object is automatically displa...
