Disclosed is a method and system for dynamically updating parking spot availability at a location.

The system employs automated drones placed at street corners with vantage points of parking spots on each block in view of an intersection. The system further includes cameras mounted on the drones.

In accordance with the method and system disclosed herein, at step time intervals, automated drones placed at vantage points at street intersections wake up and take off from the perch to get a good view of the street curbs around them. The drones are able to get as high as they need and rotate in place to get a good look at multiple streets. While in the air, the cameras take images of parking spots on the curbs and send the images to a server to be processed for latest information on available parking spots. Once the drones are done viewing the intersection, the drones descend back to the respective perches and sleep until next time interval arrives.

The system enables users to query the server for available parking spots at a given time and location. Since, the server is updated periodically with the latest information, the users are able to take informed decision about travelling to a particular location based on the available parking spots.

Thus, the method and system provides an efficient method for dynamically updating parking spot availability in a city.
