Cognitive Method for Transposing Images into Text Forms

When learning how to use a new web application on the Internet , a user often starts with watching an introduction video or reading a how-to article from the Internet. When beginning, the user needs to follow the steps described in the instructions. The setup instructions often require users to enter some values or select some values from a list of options . Most of the time, users just copy the input values from the instructions except for any personalized or sensitive values such as name, address, email address, and credit card number etc.

The novel contribution is a Form Completion Assistant. This is a cognitive method of learning the information from online videos and images and using that information to assist web form completion . This novel system helps users populate the form fields or select a value from a list of options based on the knowledge collected from the instruction images . The system suggests the values captured from the images, the users select one, and then the system enters the value into the web application. This makes the setup process a lot easier for the first-time user.

Existing auto form completion browser plugins and extensions can save values that the user input from previous uses of the same form. If the user is using a form for the first time, the auto completion plugin can help enter typical values such as First Name, Last Name, Address, Email Address, Telephone Number, etc. If the user were sets up a web mail account, the user might not know the exact server name and port.
