Abstract

This disclosure allows the user to get alerts at an appropriate time and situation about incoming calls, messages and notifications from APPs on the mobile. The method would: 1)identify the priority of the notification through correlation analysis, such as social relation between the sender and receiver, content analysis about the notification. 2)determine the status of the receiver of the notification based on information of calendar schedule, to-do list, collected sensor data on mobile and so on. For example, to determine what the receiver is doing, to determine the surrounding environment condition of the receiver, or to determine the sentiment of the receiver. 3)create a management policy and history records about how to handle a notification with different priorities and different user statuses. 4) automatically handle the notification according to its priority, current user status and the former treatment for notifications with the same priority.

A Method of Proactive Notification Management Based on Priority and User Status

More and more, people are on the run, using mobile communication devices to keep communicating. From mobile devices, people make and receive telephone calls, send and receive electronic mail, surf the web, and chat/text with various friends and acquaintances.

Users of a mobile device (e.g., smart phone, multimedia mobile phone, mobile gaming systems etc.) may subscribe to one or more notification services that may periodically send notification messages to the mobile device. For example, users may subscribe to one or more “push” email services or other push services (e.g., update/upgrade services, news services, weblog services, podcast services, social networking services, or other types of services that send notification messages to the mobile devices). Notification messages typically represent events of interest which are typically defined by the applications (e.g., new email indicator, new news item indicator, new podcast indicator, change of online status of a social networking friend, etc.).

The users may not request notification messages or other items of interest. However, a push notification is a persistent notification, which seem interrupting sometimes.

User may hope when messages notifications come in or when other events occur on a mobile device, it is customary or automatic to make a decision to really get this notifications based on his/her previous status, behavior and messages notifications priority.

Core Idea: This disclosure allows the user to get alerts at an appropriate time and situation about incoming calls , messages and notifications from APPs on the mobile.

The method would:

identify the priority of the notification through correlation analysis, such as social relation between the sender and receiver, content analysis  about the notification.

As showed in Fig.1 below, this disclosure provides a method to manage notifications based on the notification priority , the current user status and the user habit in historical records about how to handle the notifications. Wherein,
