Abstract

Almost all messenger software applications provide mechanism to set users status. This message may include status like 'Away', 'In meeting' etc. In such cases user can set alert for person for whom he/she is waiting to be available. But in such cases user never comes to know about when person will be available. This disclosure describes a method of adding time display to contact list in Messenger Chat Software showing availabilty of person. So, whenver person sets any status message other than Available, there will be an option available to set specific duration for which he/she will be away and user can keep track of it.

Adding time display to contact list in Messenger Chat Software showing availabilty of person. Now a days, almost all the messenger software applications provides mechanism to set your status. It can be 'Available', 'Away from computer', 'In meeting', 'Do not disturb' etc. In addition to these built in status, user can write their own status messages. For eg: 'working with Testing team, busy', 'call me on mobile if urgent', 'not feeling well, text me' etc. With this current system, if user is away from computer or in meeting or in DND (Do Not Disturb) mode, we do not know when he/she will become available. We can set an alert when user becomes available but still it does not tell us exactly or tentatively when user will be available for discussion. The disclosed idea is to add clock to status setting. If status is anything other than available/online, user must specify the next available time. User may specify the time in local timezone or in UTC. Other users will see time either in UTC or as per their local timezone. Or they may see the time remaining before the user comes online, in terms of hours/minutes. For eg. User will be available in 1 hour 28 mins.We are also proposing an option of 'tentative' while specifying next availability. If customer clicks the check box for 'tentative', the availability will be shown as tentative. For eg. 'User will be available in tentatively 28 minutes', 'User will be available tentatively by 3.30pm ADST' etc.User while going away from compu...
