Abstract

Nowadays cloud computing becomes a hot technology to enable enterprises to transform and distribute their workloads to cloud hosted environment. The cloud provider builds cloud data centers around the world that fulfill customers with cloud platform including components located at data center for data center managing e.g. provisioning of compute, storage and network resources, and components hosted at central for central managing e.g. application programming interfaces and web portal etc. Container technology allows services to be quickly deployed and started with isolation of namespaces, process, network and mount etc, this creates the ability to run component instances in containers but dynamically loading the configurations specific to a data center. This disclosure is to disclose a method for scaling of containers or group of containers based on the managing applications' model and the workloads across multiple data centers that are being managed by central managing applications. The scale differs in different data centers e.g. number of network routers, number of connections on virtual IP in load balancer, number of virtual machines, number of service requests etc. so a method can be developed to define the workloads on each data center, then scale the managing containers based on the data center's workloads; meanwhile the containers for the managing applications' components can be shared and reused based on the grouping of the containers.

This disclosure describes a new way to manage cloud data centers with containers running on the central environment, the containers are orchestrated for reuse among a set of cloud data centers and dynamically scaled according to the load of provisioning requests to a specific data center, this allows for efficient resources allocation and load balance.
