Display of hierarchical data on devices with limited screen

Hierarchical data or multilevel data are usually displayed as a tree like user interface on desktops. It is challenging to display hierarchical data on devices such as mobiles due to limited screen space. It is challenging to keep the hierarchical relationship and provide an easy way to select value.

Our invention provides a method to display the hierarchical data on limited screens. Here are the main ideas:

1. The hierarchical data is divided into multiple groups. Each group shows a couple of data levels. 2. The width of the screen only limits the maximum count of levels for a group. 3. The user may swipe on the screen to view each group of data levels, and hence the hierarchical data can be completely displayed. 4. The user may also tap a page indicator to switch to any group of the data levels, for example the last few levels to quickly select the value.

Here is the detailed description of the main ideas:

Data division The data is divided into multiple groups. Each group shows a couple of data levels. The count of levels depends on width of screen.
