A Method and System for Automatically Detecting Violators in Non -Smoking Areas and Notifying the Violators of Potential Fine

Disclosed is a method and system for automatically detecting violators in non-smoking areas and notifying the violators of the potential fine.

The following Figure illustrates various components of the system for automatically detecting violators in non-smoking areas.

Figure

As illustrated in the Figure, sensors are deployed in non-smoking areas as defined by regulators/vendors/service providers. The system also include an IoT cloud service that is communicatively connected with the sensors. The IoT cloud service includes a cognitive analytics engine that gathers data from the sensors for issuing alerts and notifications for the violators.

Consider an exemplary scenario wherein a vendor (such a hotel or a car rental company) has a policy of non-smoking while in the hotel/car and violators to receive a predetermined fine. In order to detect the violators, sensors are deployed in the non-smoking areas (hotel/car). In an instance, when an event of smoking is detected, the sensors activate a communication network for notifying the IoT cloud service about the violation. The sensors while notifying about the violation, also provide details about the consumers involved in the violation. Based on the data, the cognitive analytics engine determines a number of violations for the consumers to determine the fine. The fine could be a combination of a penalty an...
