Abstract

Installers of various types of films (e.g., paint protection films, window films, etc.) sometimes use a flexible plastic hand-held squeegee to apply the film. Frequently, the installer using the squeegee needs to put it down in order to adjust the film manually. The squeegee generally needs to be kept clean and close-at-hand when it is placed aside during an installation process, in a safe, convenient manner. The magnetic hand-held squeegee described here provides an improved, useful alternative for installers of various films, including paint protective films on automobiles.

SQUEEGEE WITH MAGNETIC ATTACHMENT FEATURE

Installers of various types of films (e.g., paint protection films, window films, etc.) sometimes use

a flexible plastic hand-held squeegee to apply the film. Frequently, the installer using the squeegee needs

to put it down in order to adjust the film manually. The squeegee might fall on the ground, or the installer

might even hold a handle portion of the squeegee between their teeth, risking potential exposure to

installation chemicals. One type of solution to the problem might be to add a clip to the squeegee; however,

an exposed metal clip might scratch the surface of the film, or the surface the substrate to which the film is

being applied. An improved solution is to include magnets in the squeegee to allow the squeegee to stick

to the substrate, for example, a metal portion of an automobile, or any other magnetic material the installer

puts on their person to give them a fast, clip free, scratch free means by which to secure the squeegee until

it is needed again.

Importantly, the squeegee generally needs to be kept clean and close-at-hand when it is placed aside

during an installation process, in a safe, convenient, and clip-free manner.

The magnetic hand-held squeegee described here provides an improved, useful alternative for

installers of various films, including paint protective films on automobiles. The squeegee can conveniently

be sold either separately or packaged with a kit, for example, for applying a paint protective film to a

vehicle.

FIG. 1 is a drawing of a hand-held squeegee 100 that includes one or more magnets 130 embedded

into a handle portion 110 of the squeegee. The magnet(s) are sufficiently strong to enable the handle portion

of the squeegee 100 to be held in place on a substrate t...
