Currently it is not easy to accurately predict and prioritize everything needed/not needed to bring on a trip based on factors such as activities being done, current health and safety alerts in the area to be visited, hygiene habits, etc. Many people do not have the most up-to-date or accurate data about the travel destination, and might not pack a crucial item for the trip. Other people may pack unneeded items, thus not packing other potentially important items because of space constraints.

The novel solution is a method and system to use a current technology for creating a personal profile along with cognitive machine learning capabilities to, given a baggage restriction, determine everything necessary to bring on a trip and generate a priority checklist for the user. This software, accessed through the computer or an application on a mobile device, allows the user to be a smart packer.

The user enters the type a bag being used, the travel destination, and the number of travel days. The system also stores other unique factors about the user based on a profile completed in a travel advisor application and by monitoring user behavior. The system analyzes that information and accordingly generates a complete personalized checklist. The system employs machine learning to adapt to the user's packing habits and may make items higher priority based on past checklists.
