Abstract

This idea invents a cost-saving system to guide users a possible available parking space without installing sensor on each parking spaces. When a user enter the parking garage, the system will collect the driving path and speed via GPS in mobile devices. For the part that with high driving speed, it is considered as low possibility/not good. For the part that with low speed, it is considered high possibility/popularity. Based on adequate data, the system can guide a user to a popular/possible parking space.

System and method to find available parking space

It’s hard to find a available parking space in the peak time in a crowd gathers place.There are existing solutions to count available parking spaces and locate them.For example, installing sensor on each parking space, monitor the status of the space at real time, mark the status in the map to help to locate. A drawback of such solution is the high cost. The idea in this invention is to guide user a possible available parking space without installing sensor on each parking space. Today, most of people have GPS installed on their mobile devices. With GPS, it’s easy to know the driving path and speed. When a user enter the parking garage, the system will record his driving path and speed. For the part that with high driving speed, the system considers that it’s low possibility to have available parking space there, or it’s not a good parking space as people do not park there.On the contrary, it’s high possibility to have available or good parking space where the user finally park or drive with low speed. The system will collect the driving path and speed for each vehicle when it enter the parking garage. Later, as more and more vehicles enter the garage, the system can have more data to analyze. Finally, based on the collected data, the system can know where has the high/low possibility to have an available or good parking space in the garage. Then the system can guide a user to find a parking space when he enter the garage. ...
