Method and System for Intelligently Determining if an Attendee Is Unintentionally on Mute

Disclosed is a method and system for intelligently determining if an attendee is unintentionally on mute and notifying the attendee. The method and system detects if an attendee is disconnected from a conference line or muted unintentionally based on determining an intent of the attendee by listening to the meeting conversation and topics of discussion. If the attendee is unintentionally on mute, then the method and system notifies the attendee via visual or audio cues and optionally, automatically un-mutes audio of the attendee.

In an implementation, the method and system detects that the audio mute is activated for an attendee and that the intent for the attendee is to not be on mute.

The figure below illustrates the process steps of the method and system.

As illustrated in the figure, the method and system determines the intent of the attendee by matching voices of the meeting attendees to invitee names by listening to introductions during the meeting. The method and system further analyzes the meeting invitation for invitee names and meeting topics. The method and system also listens to the meeting conversation for referenced names and topics and determines if any attendees are referencing people identified in the meeting invite. Further, the method and system also determines if any attendees are referencing any topics identified in the meeting agenda or referencing any names or topics previously raised during the meeting. Thus, the method and system detects if the attendee is on mute by determining the intent of the attendee.

If the method and system determines that the attendee is speaking unintentionally on mute, then the method and system notifies the attendee. Alternatively, if the method

In addition, the method and system also checks whether the attendee should be on un-mute based on the topic and referenced names.
