Abstract

Disclosed is a System to provide Students with a virtual Companion while they study to help them excel in their studies.Learning is a significant attribute for kids. While learning any topic the level of concentration or attention is very much importance. Growing kids can get distracted because of many scenarios, for example world cup match is coming, have a planned tour, external noise etc. Parental control is used for restoring the required level of attention, but this is based distracting content restriction. Many times student keep the books open and think many arbitrary incidents like game, match, movies etc. Because of that they are not able to complete the studies on time or in effective manner. So we need a cognitive system which will help to restore the level of attention in an effective manner.

While learning any topic the level of concentration or attention is very much importance. Growing kids can get distracted because of many scenarios, for example world cup match is coming, have a planned tour, external noise etc. Parental control is used for restoring the required level of attention, but this is based distracting content restriction. Many times student keep the books open and think many arbitrary incidents like game, match, movies etc. Because of that they are not able to complete the studies on time or in effective manner. So we need a cognitive system which will help to restore the level of attention in an effective manner. System consists of method and system by which

1. While studying any particular topic, the computing ecosystem system will compare the current level of attention of the student against the required level of attention to complete the topic in an effective manner. If the deviation more than threshold limit, then the computing ecosystem will try to restore the required attention level.

2. To restore required attention level on a particular topic, the computing ecosystem will identify suitable options like

a. Automatically control the ambient of the study room (e.g. illumination, temperature, pausing or stopping contents which might cause distraction, or playing slow music, applying automatic content restriction etc.)

b. Providing example of other student’s success stories and their recognition, Giving example on sense of responsivities and the competitive situation, past success stories ( e.g. newspapers, Social networking site etc.)

c. Showing ambition of the student (e.g. previously recorded voice, e.g. the student wants to be an engineer)

3. The computing ecosystem might recommend another study topic which is appropriate to current level of attention. This will help to create effective planning on the study topic (e.g. current level of attention is not for practicing mathematics, but can be suitable for language studies )

4. The software consider various predicted situation, and will predict future level of attention of the student and accordingly will change the study routine for that student. (e.g. there is a football match in the night, so the student will not be able to concentrate from evening onwards, so Mathematics, physics should be completed by morning/ afternoon )

5. Based on the current level of attention, the computing ecosystem will automatically change the mode and content of study. Combine reading with right proportions of video, games, examples at appropriate time that bring their focus on their target and ambitions / dreams in an interesting manner (For example Video to Audio to text or image and text, discussion etc., if the student does not have enough concentration to read book, may be audio based learning can be started, some network system will automatically play the audio content.)
