Method to Signal Car Related Events

This disclosure addresses two vehicle-related problems: obtaining a special parking sticker and communicating alerts between vehicles.

The process of obtaining a parking sticker that denotes the driver or occupant as entitled to preferential parking due to physical limitations, whether permanent or temporary, is inconvenient and labor intensive. A person often has to go to a local government office in person, complete paperwork, etc. Upon receiving the sticker, the owner affixes it to the vehicle.

If a driver is on the road and wants to alert an oncoming vehicle to be aware of a problem ahead (e.g., accident, debris in the road, etc.), the driver often flashes the headlights. However, the driver receiving the signal has no way of knowing whether the signaling driver is trustworthy and the signal is legitimate. This is a security issue.

A method or system is needed that enables vehicle owners and drivers to display relevant signs on the windshield in response to specific situations.

The novel contribution is a system that automatically displays a relevant sign in part of the front or back windshield of a car in response to different situations, a stored user profile, and information obtained from a database. The novel system comprises the following:

• A car computer

• An application on a smart device or Internet of Things (IoT) device that holds the vehicle owner’s and/or occupants’ health information and connects to the car computer. The smart device (e.g., smart phone, smart watch, or any other IOT device) monitors the occupants’ health and the ownership of the vehicle in movement .

• An algorithm to determine the current situation of the occupants of the car

• A windshield that has an embedded screen display (i.e., head up display (HUD)) that is only visible when there is some signal to display

• An associated server in the cloud that gathers information about missing child alerts . These alerts could be stolen car alerts, kidnapping alerts, etc. Depending on the results of the monitoring, the system displays the corresponding sign (e.g., criminal, handicapped, pregnant, etc.)

The steps for the missing child alert display system, when the car is identified as the criminal’s car are:

1. The cloud server gathers information about missing child alerts. These alerts could be stolen car alerts, kidnapping alerts, etc.

2. The server contains software that uses web crawling algorithms to gather information from websites that have alerts being posted. These alerts usually have the license plate of the car being involved in the crime.
