Gemtone Radiant Nude is an experimental effect pigment composed of bismuth oxychloride, mica, and iron oxide. The combination of iron oxide and bismuth oxychloride pigment results in a beige hue, intended to match a range of skin tones. This product has an average particle size of 12 µm, which results in a low luster appearance and provides high coverage when applied to skin. This experimental pigment is ideal in applications where a low luster, beige-tinted color is required. This product, and others that may be developed in the future, typically consist of combinations of iron oxide and/or titanium dioxide and/or bismuth oxychloride pigment with mica platelets of varying particle sizes. These types of combinations could potentially be used in a broad range of cosmetic applications, including color cosmetics and personal care. Attached are a number of formulations demonstrating the use of the Gemtone Radiant Nude pigment. These examples are not meant to be limiting in any way, and one skilled in the art will readily find many other applications and combinations of cosmetic ingredients, colorants, and the above disclosed pigments.

I. In a suitable container add all Phase A ingredients. Mix well. II. Sprinkle each ingredient of Phase B one by one into Phase A while being rapidly agitated. Mix Well. III. Add Phase C to Phase AB and homogenize until uniform. IV. Add Phase D to Phase AB. Mix well. V. Premix phase E and add to the main batch. Mix well.
