Abstract

Fixate™ G-100 polymer (INCI: AMP-Acrylates/Allyl Methacrylate Copolymer) is an acrylate-based fixative polymer developed for use in hair styling products and other film-forming applications. For leave-on skin care products, Fixate™ G-100 polymer promotes positive result in Lubrizol's fragrance retention study due to the film formation, which may be applied to all product types.

Lubrizol’s Solution for Enhancing Fragrance Retention

Introduction

Most personal and home care consumers’ purchase decisions are driven by their olfactory experience. Fragrance is a vital ingredient for masking the base odor of the formulation, and often is used as a product positioning tool to reinforce label claims, and build consumer loyalty and brand affiliation. A fragrance compound is made from a variety of odor-active volatile raw materials, solvents, and fixatives. Aligned with the vapor pressures of these odor-active components, these volatiles can be divided into top, middle, and bottom notes as descriptors of a scent. The evaporation process of these fragrance raw materials may be controlled by the solvents and fixatives to adjust intensity or long-lasting of the fragrance.

Formulation and Measurement

Seven fragranced samples with different level of Fixate™ G-100 polymer were prepared at room temperature.
