Abstract

A field replaceable battery locking assembly for portable digital X-ray imaging systems is proposed. The battery locking assembly comprises a spring and pin based self-locking mechanism and two fixed parts. The fixed parts are attached to the battery by two screws. The two screws may be unscrewed to remove and replace the battery in field.

BACKGROUND

 

The present disclosure relates generally to locking techniques for batteries of portable digital X-ray imaging systems and more particularly to a field replaceable battery locking assembly.

Nowadays, battery as power source is common in cassette digital radiography systems. A locking mechanism to hold the battery in position during transport is necessary. A self-locking mechanism that automatically locks when the battery is pushed in is generally preferred. A self-locking mechanism, however, requires a spring. Spring based locking mechanisms usually wear out after multiple cycles of working and in many instances do not last as long as the portable detector.

There are several conventional locking techniques for batteries of portable digital X-ray imaging systems. One conventional locking technique includes a rotation locker. Another conventional locking technique includes a plastic sliding locker. However these conventional techniques lack strength cannot achieve self-locking.

It would be desirable to have an improved locking technique for batteries of portable digital X-ray imaging systems.
