Abstract

Flexible cabling for passenger seats in aircrafts using energy chains Abstract A energy chain to provide movable passenger seats in aircrafts with energy characterized in that the lower end of the energy chain is fixed at the floor in line with the raceway next to the seat rail. The upper end of the energy chain is fixed at the upper end of a seat leg. The over length of the energy chain and the harness inside allows a movement of the seat up to 15 inch without any disconnection of connectors or rerouting of harnesses. The lower fix point is connected to the power supply of the aircraft. The equipment box transforms the high-voltage of the aircraft power supply to the low-voltage applications e.g. USB outlets or power sockets for laptop cabling.

1. Technical field

The state of the art reveals possibilities to provide movable parts in aircrafts with energy 5

by energy chains. Additionally there is a contactless power supply known with primary

coils in the floor of an aircraft cabin and secondary coils in the passenger seat legs.

2. Current problem

The known solutions are very expensive and complex for an unproblematic integration

in current aircrafts and therefore in the conventional aircraft cabin layout.

3. Problem solution and description of the solution

The combination of the known solutions with using of energy chains and existing prin-

ciples for movable passenger seats is described in detail in the following.

The lower end of the energy chain is fixed at the floor in line with the raceway next to

the seat rail. The upper end of the energy chain is fixed at the upper end of a seat leg. 20

The over length of the energy chain and the harness inside allows a movement of the

seat up to 15 inch without any disconnection of connectors or rerouting of harnesses.
