Abstract

Lateral movable seat bench

Abstract

A lateral movable seat bench is characterized in that technical elements to move seats in x-direction are also applicable for the movement of passenger seats and seat rows in y-direction by e.g. a linear guiding system. A bulk compartment guarantees the necessary space for extra seats. In the bulk compartment stowed and folded seats can be integrated and extended in x-direction. The seats are used to enable a new cabin configuration for additional passengers.

Lateral movable seat bench 1. Technical field A flexible aircraft cabin configuration with improvements for a movable seat bench in y- direction allows the usage of cargo or bulk compartments with integrated stowed seats. 2. Current problem Current technical solutions enable to move seats and seat benches in x-direction in the cabin of an aircraft. Independent if it’s a single aisle or a twin aisle cabin configuration with a bulk compartment. For a flexible aircraft cabin configuration is a use of a bulk compartment for storing seats and seat rows desirable. Further flexibility should be reachable within a use of the bulk compartment in a configuration with passenger seats for passenger transportation. 3. Problem solution and description of the solution The technical elements to move seats in x-direction are also applicable for the movement of passenger seats and seat rows in y-direction by e.g. a linear guiding system. The bulk compartment guarantees the necessary space for extra seats. In the bulk compartment stowed and folded seats can be integrated. The seats are used to enable a new cabin configuration for additional passengers. The following three figures show the stepwise method of usage of the movable seat bench in y-direction in combination with a bulk compartment with integrated and stowed seats.  Figure 1 shows the standard cabin configuration with a bulk compartment and stowed,

folded seats. The cabin and the bulk compartment are separated by a door. The cargo door is used to implement the stowable seats in the bulk compartment.
