Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for allowing users to regain access to accounts automatically using a voice-based or a conversation-based account recovery.  The method and system parses a user’s activity on a service provider’s network, generates a series of questions and requests the user to provide the answers.  Based on the answers received from the user in addition to other signals, the user is either provided access to the user’s account or denied access to the user’s account.

Description

Users are locked out of accounts on websites owing to users forgetting the password and in addition the users do not have access or have lost access to alternate recovery channels.  In such cases, the users contact customer care agents by either the phone, email or chat.  Customer care agents, then, login to the users’ accounts and ask the users some questions about the account.  Based on the responses, the users are either given access to the accounts or denied access to the accounts.  Such techniques are expensive and extremely slow for users.

Thus, there is a need for an inexpensive technique that reduces the account recovery time for users by providing a faster response to users.

Disclosed is a method and system for allowing users to regain access to accounts automatically using a voice-based or a conversation-based account recovery.  The method and system can be accessed through either a phone call or a web browser.

The method and system parses a user’s activity on a service provider’s network, generates a series of questions and requests the user to provide the answers.  Based on the answers received from the user in addition to other signals, the user is either provided access to the user’s account or denied access to the user’s account.

Thus, the method and system provides a voice based account recovery based on a user’s activity records.
