Abstract

The novel solution makes it possible to install the connectors and the associated wiring

in the front panel of an apparatus from the back side of the front panel of the apparatus.

The apparatus may be a power stage in a frequency converter.

The prior art solution

Figures 4 to 6 show the prior art solution.

The connectors are in the prior art solution installed from the front side of the front panel

of the apparatus. The novel solution is based on the idea of making the installation from

the back side of the front panel.

Problems in the prior art solution

All the other wiring except for the connectors to be installed to the front panel of the

apparatus is made from the back side of the front panel.

It is necessary to turn the subassembly into different positions during the installation of

the connectors and the associated wiring.

The fastening of the connectors is made with many (10 pieces) small connector screws.

The small screws have to be installed in a very tight cavity.

The wires have to be thread through the front panel i.e. through holes in the front panel,

whereby fraying of the wires might occur.

The appearance is unaesthetic and the screws remain visible on the front side of the

apparatus.

Figures 1 to 3 show the novel solution.

All the wiring may be installed behind the front sheet without any threading.

The installation is made so that the connector is threaded into a nest, whereby the

connector becomes form locked into the nest with a snap-fit connection.

Screws are not neccessary needed at all to attach the connectors. The fastening of the

connectors may, however, be secured with a screw if this is considered appropriate. Even

in a case where the fastening is secured with screws there will be a reduction of 50% in

the number of screws needed compared to the prior art solution. The screws are clearly

visible in a fairly open place, which makes the installation of the screws much easier.

The appearance on the front side of the apparatus is aesthectic. The screws and the

wirering is hidden behind the front panel. The connectors are embedded under the

installation surface.
